"They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps. His Truth is marching on."
-- Battle Hymn of the Republic
"More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of, wherefore let thy voice rise like a fountain night and day."
-- Alfred Lloyd Tennyson
"Thou shalt love the Lord with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets."
from Sacred Wisdom, 13 Gnostic Gospels translated from Early Coptic by Alan Jacobs: "... The selected Gospels reveal sayings of Christ not included in the New Testament and throw light on the intimate relationship between Jesus and his disciples.... [some] texts show the structure of Gnostic cosmology.... I have relied on my own practical knowledge of the mystical path in the higher religious traditions to make as much sense as possible of these truly beautiful, ecstatic and awe-inspiring texts."
"All of nature, its forms and creatures are interrelated.... That's why God enters your heart to return you back to your source. This is why you get ill and eventually die.... Matter caused powerful passions to enter into you, forces which come from its opposites in nature. Then a sickness arises in the body; so be of strong faith!... One perceives through neither soul nor spirit but by mind, which mediates between both; visions are mental."
-- Jesus, The Gospel of Mary Magdelene
"Jesus knew her well; that's why he loved her more than us."
-- Levi, The Gospel of Mary Magdelene
"Christ revealed the secret mysteries but legalists soon dug his grave; they condemned him as irreverent unlawful and defiled. On the third day he raised himself from the dead, and as Savior unveiled the truth that gives Life to the All.... From [my Father's seed] were born gods, angels, men, nature, the heavens, the world, underworlds and the enigma of the feminine.... All opposing forces, seen or unseen, in the world, underworld or the heavens, will wage war. I as Savior will conquer, and those chosen will surmount all; not by words alone but through God's grace will we end spiritual death.... We must be grateful while He is living through us! His grace is boundless. He has great compassion, sending his angel of light from the Aeons, to unveil the way to end ignorance and to lead us from death to Eternal Life!.... It's not a trifling matter that Almighty God is with us and His angels that dwell in the world.... Sacred are you, Father of All, who exists yet doesn't exist, eternally.... the wiles of Satan, who exists in this Aeon and seduces mankind.... A true Christian never dies for he has not lived in vain, to inherit spiritual death. He who has great faith in Truth has found the Real Life; this man dares dying to his own Self, to be truly alive.... Those who sow in the hard winter reap in glorious summer. This world is a harsh winter; summer is the eternal realm. Let us sow now, in this wintry world, so we may harvest in the splendid summer."
-- Melchizadek
from The Lost Gospel, translated from Greek, interpreted and placed historically by Burton L. Mack: "His first followers arranged these sayings in a way that offered instruction for living creatively in the midst of a most confusing time.... they thought of him as a teacher whose teachings made it possible to live with verve in troubled times.... The people of Q were Jesus people, not Christians.... How to get along with each other in an ad hoc world was the critical question.... The Jesus movement was attractive as a place to experiment with novel social notions and life-styles.... People were encouraged to free themselves from traditional social constraints and think of themselves as belonging to a larger human family.... Conversation and mutual support were enough to encourage an individual to act 'naturally,' as if the normal expectations of acquiescence to social conventions did not apply.... a social vision for human well-being was generated within the group.... The [New Testament] gospels must now be seen as the result of early Christian mythmaking. Q forces the issue, for it documents an earlier history that does not agree with the narrative gospel accounts.... The issues raised are profound and far-reaching. They are not issues of thought and conscience only for Christians.... Q can hardly be discussed without engaging in some honest talk about Christian myth and the American Dream."
"A good tree does not bear rotten fruit; a rotten tree does not bear good fruit. Are figs gathered from thorns, or grapes from thistles? Every tree is known by its fruit. The good man produces good things from his store of goods and treasures; and the evil man evil things. For the mouth speaks from a full heart.... Go. Look, I send you out as lambs among wolves. Do not carry money, or bag, or sandals, or staff; and do not greet anyone on the road.... Pay attention to the sick and say to them, 'God's kingdom has come near to you.' But if you enter a town and they do not receive you, as you leave, shake the dust from your feet and say, 'Nevertheless, be sure of this, the realm of God has come to you.'... Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you.... Nothing is hidden that will not be made known, or secret that will not come to light.... Don't be afraid of those. You can kill the body, but can't kill the soul.... Think of the way lilies grow. They do not work or spin. But even Solomon in all his splendor was not as magnificent.... make sure of his rule over you, and all these things will be yours as well.... Everyone who glorifies himself will be humiliated, and the one who humbles himself will be praised.... Whoever does not accept his cross [bear up under condemnation] and so become my followers, cannot be one of my students.... Whoever tries to protect his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life on account of me will preserve it...."
-- Jesus, The Book Of Q
"He will overwhelm you with holy spirit and fire.... You shall reverence the lord our God and serve him alone."
-- John, The Complete Book Of Q

"No man loves God who hates his kind,
Who tramples on his brother's heart and soul,
Who seeks to shackle, cloud, or fog the mind
By fears of hell has not percevied our goal.
"God-sent are all religions blest,
And Christ, the Way, the Truth, the Life,
To give the heavy laden rest
And peace from sorrow, sin, and strife.
"Behold the Universal Spirit came
To all the churches, not to one alone;
On Pentecostal morn a tongue of flame
Round each apostle as a halo shown.
"Since then, as vultures ravenous with greed,
We oft have battled for an empty name,
And sought by dogma, edict, cult or creed,
To send each other to the quenchless flame....
"His pure sweet love is not confined
By creeds which segregate and raise a wall.
His love enfolds, embraces human kind,
No matter what ourselves or Him we call.
"Then why not take Him at His word?
Why hold to creeds which tear apart?
But one thing matters, be it heard,
That brother love fill every heart.
"There's but one thing the world has need to know,
There's but one balm for all our human woe;
There's but one way that leads to heaven alone --
That way is human sympathy and love."
-- Max Heindel, "Creed or Christ," from The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception or Mystic Christianity ("Its message and mission: a sane mind, a soft heart, a sound body.")
"... there is no infallible revelation of this complicated subject, which includes everything under the sun and above it also.... The writer has continued his investigations of the invisible worlds, and experienced the expansion of consciousness relative to these realms of nature which comes by practice of the precepts taught in the Western Mystery School.... it is by refraction through these minute prisms that the colorless solar fluid changes to a rosy hue.... the solar energy ... commences to give a distinctive and individual coloring to the aura which we observe in adults."
-- Max Heindel, The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception
"Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter therein."
-- Mark 10:15
