Curse of the Commandment
Michael guards the gate
where Shiite Christians
ply penance through seraph
who speak and listen
for the jealous God
of earth's first tribes
to each hypocrisy,
adultery,
to every oath of lies,
blaming victims for the crime
used to justify
stoning
without surcease or mercy
brides
draped in an unclaimed fault.
